Reflection about this blog.

Lately I’ve been thinking about what the purpose of my blog is. Looking back, the reason my blog first started was to have a journal about my time in seminary, about how God is working in my life and what He has been putting on my heart.

Much of what I write on this site is carefully selected, because I don’t think I want everyone reading everything on my mind. But I do post things that are noteworthy.

Because God has placed a burden on my heart to minister to Asian-Americans, I have found myself much more in tune to issues related to race and ethnicity, especially in America. Living in Los Angeles county, attending seminary, and serving at an English-speaking Asian-American church have given me more opportunities to explore such things. In a way, my blog has evolved and added a new dimension–I write a great deal about race and ethnicity, especially its role in God’s kingdom. In that, it’s not unique–there are many quality blogs that explore these things–especially about Asian-Americans. I still wish I had more time to engage with the many bloggers out there.

In the past few weeks, because I’ve been watching more television with the Beijing Olympics going on, I have found so much to think and post about, and only a few of my thoughts have ended up here. Following these Olympic Games has has an impact on me. The very event that was aimed at bringing the world together in peace and friendly competition has shown me much about race relations. Much of the things I’ve seen have saddened me, as you can read from previous posts.

I realize how much redeeming God has to do in the world.

However, in writing that, God reminds me that (1) it’s His work, and (2) the world is not beyond redemption.
